Couldn't recommend Hotel du Vin enough! We stayed here on new years eve in the cinema suite. The room was perfect and ready for us on time. Heated flooring and a huge bed made every second of being in the room amazing! Valet parking makes the process very easy as parking in cambridge can be difficult. Due to it being so busy on new years eve in the bistro, the hotel set up a private room for us and had the food sent over. The food was Cooked perfectly and the service was excellent! If your looking for a beautiful and interesting place to stay near the centre of Cambridge then you won't find much better than this! Only down side is the private cinema had a limited amount of movies but this in no way detracted from an amazing night away! We will definately be returning to Hotel du Vin soon as we never wanted to leave in the first place! 5*
Visited Hotel du Vin for work event. We were in private room. Not great from start to finish. Choice of cocktails poor and very expensive. Nothing special about them, no decorations. The food was cold and nothing special. My fish was really overcooked and cold. Veg were very al dent and puds were plonked on the plate with no design. Had to ask for wine to be served at the start poured everyone water and disappeared. Coffee cold. Just poor for such a hotel and very pricey for what we got. Planning the event was a nightmare; was told staff were new, 2 months previously, but it never got any better...as if that was an excuse.It was if because we were a large party we could be hidden away and treated badly. Staff were polite. Seriously need to pull their socks up we were very disappointed.
The problem with this hotel is that it was just distinctly average in every regard. It markets itself as luxury, but offers the exact opposite. At check-in, the staff we completely uninterested in saying hello, and just wanted us to pre-pay. They forgot our champagne which Id pre-requested, and then forgot again when I asked for it. In general, the whole hotel is run a bit like a 3.5 star Marriott. The rooms are dated and dull; but as I say it really comes down to the drab, uninterested and un-engaging staff. Hotel du Vin - you need to sort that out, because youre charging an absolute bomb for a seriously sub-par hotel experience.
Truly enjoyed our stay at this refurbished industrial age set of buildings combined into a hotel. Nice backyard space, though mostly for smoking including a cigar den. Bistro is good and a basement bar with lots of nooks to settle into. Room was large, clean and comfortable.
An amazing place. The room Toques at the back of the hotel very quiet. The staff are helpful and friendly but not obtrusive. Had room service and the food was delicious. Would stay here age. Thank you to everyone for a very comfortable stay. Will return
