Good facilities but a bit dated now. 25m pool and kids pool. Usually quiet for lane swimming.
This place has been going downhill for the two years I've been visiting. It's small points which have started to irritate me: almost an entire row of lockers have broken wrist bands rendering them useless, no attempt to ensure people follow the speeds or directions of the swimming lanes, pool full of swimming lessons at random unmarked times, having to queue to pass someone your card who scans it before letting you in - why not just let us scan the card and avoid the queue? It's convenient for me because it's near my house but getting to the point where I'm going to give up.
My son is doing his lessons on abbey, the teacher cant even control the kids they are jumping around the swimming pool, and plus the safeguards are very very rude! My 2 year old daughter wanted to play with a toy duck on the side of the waiting sides of the pools and one of the safe guard came and took it away very rudely! I never felt so embarrassed everyone was staring, he could have said it more nicely or if they want children not to touch them they should find another place to put them on the Waiting sides of the pools. Cant wait for the contract to end.
Nice pool, lovely staff, but the rim of the pool is dirty. I complain frequently and the staff are always going to clean it . But the next day it's still dirty. In some places it hasn't been done for a long time. A great pity.
I have been going to this gym for a while now and overall it as isn't great and things don't really seem to be improved.* The check in machines hardly ever dispense the wrist band, maybe 5% of the time you get your band, the other times you have to talk to the desk staff to tell them you want to use the gym/pool. Why have these machines when you can't use them?* The changing room floor is often wet and incredibly smelly (strong chemical smell) so gross to stand on. It's great they regularly clean but can you not mop with clean water after you have mopped with detergents? I wouldn't just let water with detergent in it dry for me to then step on with bare feet...* They ban men from using the pool/sauna during women's pool hours. I don't think there are any men-only pool hours so this is clearly discrimination based on sex (I thought that is illegal in the UK). I don't see any reason why there should be segregated swimming since people need to wear bathing suits in both the pool and the little sauna. If people want segregated swimming, they should build their own pool with their own money. * Sometimes in the weights section, there are men who will just drop (very heavy) weights on the floor instead of putting them down in a controlled manner. This makes a lot of noise and is inconsiderate to other members. Weights aren't always put back in their place either.
