Be careful - We are waiting since 2016 for the deposit to be paid back. Calling and mailing has not led to any success.

This is an update to a previous review of this business. I do not use my real name on the Internet, as I value my privacy, and do not wish to be harassed in any form. If readers doubt this is a true review, ask yourself why on earth I would take time out of my day, and my life to write such a review if it was not the truth. I have got better things to do..... In their initial response below they state there systems would not allow the time of return to be disputed, and in any case, they would never charge in a scenario such as this. Well this is untrue, and my bank account at the time shows I was charged for an extra day, by Cambridge Car Hire regardless of what they say. 22-Nov-2018. Mike Ryan2 reviews3 years agoNever Again. I have rented vans from this company three times in the past, no problem. Last Thursday I rented a compact car for seven days, at 13:20hrs and returned it the following day Friday, at approx 14:30hrs,although the company dispute this,saying it was more like 14:50hrs, which is not true.I returned the car, as I no longer needed it, and was told by the office, I would only be charged for one days hire.In the event I was charged a further days hire, because I was approx one hour late returning the car. When I questioned them on this, they said it was to do with Insurance company regulations.I have returned cars late before to other hire companies, and have not be charged like this. Quiet unfair, I thought, especially for a regular customer. The company may make a short term financial gain, but will lose a long term customer, and I will certainly not recommend them to anyone I know.Response from the owner 3 years ago.There is no record of a Mike Ryan ever hiring from us, nor any rental which even resembles the time or dates described here. For the record, with how our systems work, it would be impossible to dispute the return time of a vehicle. Regardless, we would not charge an additional day for the scenario described here.
Almost perfect. Car, staff and price were great. Just annoying that I was told the car would have sat nav, but it didn't have the SD card inserted so had to use phone. Otherwise everything was great and would use them again.
I rented a car for 11 days for a tour from Cambridge to Scotland and back. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were very happy with the car and had no issues or hidden costs when returning it. I would recommend this for short and long term carhire in the Cambridge area. Their prices rival most of the better known rental companies in the area.
