A great place to visit if you have an interest in modern history. Soak in the atmosphere of a place of hero's. Imagine the men who perhaps had there last drink with their fellow crew members, laughing and joking, and writing there names on the ceiling. We had lunch and a couple of drinks in this rear bar and we raised a glass to the men who sacrificed there lives to allow us to enjoy ours.
Try the DNA ale! The pub itself is quite large and laid out in separate rooms. The choice of draft on tap is fairly limited but the gins are well stocked. The prices are fairly steep and are similar to that of central London. The staff are friendly however. The pub grub is fairly priced and the portions large. Be sure to keep an empty stomach if you wish to dine.
Visit this historical pub but get in early as its packed with tourists. Or go late and sit in the courtyard nestling your last pint. We went for lunch bang on 12pm when they serve. Great pie and mash with veg. Excellent local ale. Toilets a bit pokey tho.
Bar tender was super helpful guiding us through the selection of beers. Our group sat outside under heat lamps and was very comfortable. We ate traditional Brit pub food - generous portions and good if not exceptional. Nice for a casual low key dinner.
Awesome place, and I loved the food. Got the fish and chips, which was good, but I should have gotten the Sunday roast. Way better deal. It was off peak hours, so seating and service was perfectly fine.
