Despite the kids having a fun trip out and running about a great deal. The zoo was sad, run down, lacking care and update and in great need of love and money. The animals were also a sorry site... from birds to mammals. Their enclosures were small and unkempt. Depressing really...
My first visit to this zoo since my young childhoid but had a fantastic day out. Some beautiful animals.Definitely going back again.
What a great place! It was only a tenner to get in, so i wasn't expecting a great deal, but i was pleasantly surprised by the amount on offer. We managed to get on the VIP lemur tour, which we all found fascinating. Our guide was really knowledgeable about not only the lemurs there, but also about rheir natural habitat. It was fascinating to learn about what they are doing to reintroduce the various breeds back into the wild. It was very informative and the children enjoyed feeding the lemurs and being used as a climbing frame! We also sampled the cafe, which wasn't the best. I wasn't expecting Michelin stars and menu choices were very limited. Very few healthy options too. Service from the staff was good though and at least it was hot when it arrived at the table I went for a nice pasty, my youngest had some rather nice chunky veg soup and the others had burgers, which were cheap quality, but at least the rolls were decent. Coffee and tea were nice too. It was cold when we went, so not many animals were out, but that actually worked in our favour because we saw a lot close up through the observation windows. The highlight probably being 3ft away from 4 cuddling lions! Nice layout and unlike most animal parks, lots of information on each animal. Will definitely be going again, but when it's warmer, so the animals are a bit more active and ill certainly book one of the VIP experiences in advance. Very recommended.
Lovely visit today with young children .. the staff were helpful and knowledgeable, obviously enjoyed working there. We ate at the cafe & it was good quality .. we kept discovering new birds and animals at every turn . My daughter has already asked me to return soon.
Interesting small zoo/breeding centre. Enough to see without missing anything. Go round several times to see the various animals active.Not expensive to get in. The staff are knowledgeable, and the various talks were interesting.
